"Radiant Orchid", Pantone's new color of the year

Pantone Universe has decided that a cooler shade should be named the color of year. It is called Radiant Orchid, a pinkish purple that has already been spotted on chairs, cars, suits, ties, walls, and even running shoes. This color is a great complement to all of the other colors that were popular in the eighties, only then we called it dusty rose and mauve. Either color is great on the dearly departed as he or she lies in state in the mortuary.

Emerald, in a special ceremony, gave up her crown to Radiant Orchid. "It was a satisfying year", said Emerald, who appeared on gowns, jewelry, eyeshadow, nail art, and socks.

"This is not your mother's decorating palette, sources inside Pantone say. These colors picked by Pantone are vibrant, in contrast with the insipid, muted shades and colors of the eighties that graced every room in the Motel 6 chain. Perhaps these colors reflect what we see when we fire up a joint during a vacation in Colorado or Washington State--something the parents swear they didn't do.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
