Brett Favre, the legendary NFL quarterback who has made a career of retiring and un-retiring for many a season may be doing it again, albeit on a TV show.
This time, he plans to make an appearance on the ABC reality show Dancing With The Stars.
And his partner will be none other than another professional un-retirer, Cher.
Why Dancing With The Stars? Why Cher?
"I need the attention," Favre said from his home. "None of the teams will hire me and I can't go back to college-no athletic scholarships for me. Quarterback for a high school football team-no way. Besides I'm addicted to the limelight."
As for the aging singer, "she can't play football-never has been able to," noted Favre. "But I'd like to be on TV with her, even if she's old enough to be my mother."
Favre went on to say that he and Cher are members of a not-so-secret support group using the twelve-step approach for those who are addicted to the limelight, similar to the used by Alcoholics Anonymous or Overeaters Anonymous. Other members supposedly include Barbra Streisand, Charlie Sheen, Alec Baldwin, Oprah Winfrey, Andre Rieu, Garrison Keillor, Madonna and Lindsay Lohan.
When asked about going on Dancing With The Stars, Cher confirmed her desire for attention. "I also need the money for all my fancy outfits and homes," she said. "I'll do whatever it takes-even do something scandalous-you know, which makes the front pages of the National Enquirer. I'm no good at dancing, but as long as the beat goes on, I'll go dancing on TV with Brett."
