Sgt Joe Friday, LAPD, returned to duty today along with his partner Bill Gannon and a friend from the Queensland Police Service to help crack down on mall rats.
Over 100 mall rats were arrested in the week-long crackdown with several of them remanded in custody and some even having outstanding arrest warrants.
Chief McCord of the LAPD says that 'it's great to have Joe Friday returning to active duty and assisting fellow officers in ridding the streets of dangerous gangs of mall rats.'
The QPS officer also assisted with the arrests, reporting 20 arrests within the first three days.
Arrest numbers are expected to increase around the summer months.
