"More fun that a barrel of monkeys," is a well-worn phrase that is obsolete and should no longer be used, said members of the National Society of Fun Measurers at their annual meeting today in Carbondale, Illinois.
Veteran Fun Measurer Durward McMuckman told reporters that there are several problems with the phrase. "First, even though they might look like they're having fun, younger monkeys really don't really enjoy being inside a barrel," he said. "It's a new generation and they're different from their parents and grandparents. Plus, PETA gets all pissed off these days whenever somebody sticks a monkey in a barrel," he said.
Asked what sort of measurement would replace the barrel of monkeys, McMuckman replied, "That's what we're trying to figure out at this year's meeting."
