HARFOLD, Vt.--Texas Governor Rick Perry is again on the defensive, this time due to a revelation that he'd hunted at and brought guests to a hunting lodge that carried the name Niggerhead.
"I thought it was Nigerhead, like the fish," said Perry speaking to voters in Harfold, Vermont. "Besides, we painted over the rock where the word appeared. Someone had sloppily painted the name on it.
Perry was referring to Melichthys niger, or the black triggerfish which is native to the waters surrounding Hawaii.
When a member of the crowd stated that there'd be no reason for someone to name part of the hunting camp after a fish that lived over 3,500 miles from the camp, Perry became even more defensive.
"And we never had any black people at the hunting lodge either, so what's your point?"
While listening to Perry's inane comments, Bert MacInerney googled the fish on his smart phone and then pointed out that one of the many nicknames of the black triggerfish happens to be the niggerfish.
"No comment," was Perry's reply.
