Oxford and Cambridge Universities look like heading towards setting a maximum fee for 2012, its been reported.
Following a meeting of academics and students on tuition fee charges, Chancellor Emeritus Bagshot stated that Oxford needed to charge 1 squillion pounds to replace cuts but student groups said that poorer students would be put off.
Cambridge University steering group on fees has already recommended setting a fee of £1.5. squillion for all courses, claiming that "responsible parents will always find a little bit extra when their children's educational future is at stake. If it means giving up that winter holiday in Le Bollin, most parents will gladly make the ultimate sacrifice", a spokesman commented.
Other universities are set to follow suit.
