A lab based at Brunel University has confirmed the new species of "Super Slug" has developed a resistance to salt.

The vile slugs, which can grow up to three feet in size, have seen their numbers increase rapidly since first sighting in April.

Experts at Brunel received a phonecall three months ago from a lady who had a voice "racked with fear."

"The lady explained she had poured salt all over a tribe of super slugs, but instead of dissolving they actually trebled in size, backed her into a corner, and started spitting slime. We thought she was a bit mental to be honest. But we decided to go on the hunt for some of the slugs, and we brought them back to the lab and contained them before slopping salt all over them."

What happened next left the scientists reeling.

"They seemed to thrive off the salt and became really quite aggressive. We tried pepper, ketchup, soy sauce, mayonnaise. Still no effect. In the end we just had to beat them to death with a stick. It worked."

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
