Somewhat predictably, a radical extremist website has urged followers to kill UK MPs who voted in favour of the Iraq war; publishing a list of all 383 of them, their constituency addresses, the whereabouts of their second and third homes and the hotels where they are most likely to meet their mistresses and/or toyboys. The website, www.jihad/fatwa/killallinfidels.web, is hosted in the US and is the subject of FBI interest.
More worrying, and closer to home, is a website believed to be operated by the Radical Alliance of Benefit Claimants of the UK. Their website, www.scroungingbastards.web, which was funded by a National Lottery grant, has urged claimants to seek out and kill Chancellor George Osbourne and all other MPs who voted in favour of the current wide ranging cuts in benefits.
Bob Inertia, who is believed to be the movement's leader, said "Obviously, we can't afford to buy weapons and make improvised explosive devices on the income we get. We have applied for special circumstances payments and have got permission from councils to do street collections. When we have assembled an armoury, we will see who can tear themselves away from daytime TV and the pub, in order to teach these bastards a lesson".
A spokesman for the Counter Terrorist Squad said, "We have taken this threat seriously and have carried out a full threat assessment. At present, we don't think a real threat will materialise, as it will be too much like hard work for the potential perpetrators".
