TV presenter and dental hygienist Clare Balding was delighted today to discover she wasn't a dyke.
Balding complained to the PCC when an article was published in The Times by the famous dead American poet Dr Suess called the Dyke on the Bike.
The article made reference to -
Balding - the dyke,
riding a bike,
not a horse,
of course,
or her arse on,
Willie Carson,
but a bike,
for the dyke.
Her complaint about being called a dyke was upheld and the PCC demanded that the newspaper should never use that word to describe Balding again.... and neither should any other newspaper, journalist or spoof website call her the 'D' word too for that matter.
A spokesman for The Times defended Dr Suess by saying 'He is well known for his crap, unfunny poems that lots of Americans seem to adore so why someone would be offended by this is a complete mystery to me.'
'Only last week he wrote a poem about Simon Cowell called the 'Twat in the Plat... form shoes'. We didn't get one single complaint about that.'
'And it didn't even fucking rhyme.'
