There was disappointment amongst anti-smoking lobbyists tonight, when it was revealed that this year's No Smoking Day had been cancelled after a fire at the campaign's headquarters in London.
No Smoking Day is an event habitually held every year, and is the UK's leading health campaign for smokers who want to stop.
Millions of people die from smoking-related illness and disease every year, and the government has poured trillions of pounds into schemes to stop people smoking - schemes that, invariably, don't work.
Today, however, the stop smoking campagn really was 'stubbed out', when arsonists set fire the NSD HQ, causing annoyance to local residents who complained bitterly about the smoke.
Spokesman for NSD, John 'Nosmo' King, said:
"This has razed all our good work down to the ground."
One smoker, Nick O'Teen, said:
"I'll never give up! I love smoking, and hanging about in pub and shopping centre doorways, blowing my filthy smoke in people's faces."
