The BBC is trying to present sscientific debate in a new and more balanced way said a spokesperson earleir today.
We have organised a debate between two teams. The first involves Sir Mustav Fourbrains Professor of Plant Biochemicalphysiologalgenetics and his colleague Professor (Lord) Completely Brilliant who hold the chair in geneticsbiochemistryplantmetabolism at 47 universities throughout the world.
Opposing them will be Mrs Trellis of North Wales who has an organic smallholding near Bangor and a local organic carrot farmer called Paddy Hold'em who is a director of The Soiled Association. Neither Mrs Trellis nor Mr Hold'em has any academic qualifications although Mr Hold'em studied Biodynamic Agriculture and Moon Farming at an unknown college in Essex.
A spokesman for The BBC said that the corporation felt that this would give a balance to the debate and allow for a good exchange of views on the scientific issues that concern us all. We look forward to an interesting discussion. The programme will be braodcast at 3.00AM on Sunday morning.
