No Miserable City

Glasgow South MP Tom Harris has been criticised for saying 'no wonder people are so bloody miserable', in a blog on his unheard-of website.

Mr Harris, a penpusher in the alleged Labour government, had said: 'OK, you're living in Glasgow. It's the most violent city on the face of the Earth, and a sea of housebreaking and drug abuse and alcoholism. The life expectancy is 20 years lower than in the south of England, the diet is unmentionable, and the only fun to be had is from sectarian marches and third-rate football teams. No wonder people are so bloody miserable!'

But Mr Harris's remarks were criticised by many people, inluding former Glasgow MP George Galloway. 'Look, I left Glasgow as soon as I could, so did Billy Connolly, even King Kenny buggered off once he was famous - that's why I'm not miserable.' And passer-by Rab C Nesbitt, shouted 'Aye! We're miserable, pal, and don't you forget it! Gonnae no' keep sayin' it, by the way.'

Some in Glasgow have suggested that Mr Harris is unlikely to feel miserable himself, as he gets paid a fortune to do nothing but sit around typing in his luxurious London house, but others have pointed out that that is actually miserable compared to being an MSP or EMP, and really having fun at the taxpayers' expense. But Mr Harris himself defended his words.

'I'm miserable myself today, not only has my pathetic self-publicity bored people to tears, but my limousine got a parking fine today in Mayfair - the hardships us socialists have to put up with!' James Maxton was miserably dead today.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
