Under a new initiative drawn up by a hapless Chancellor, and in keeping with quick government action when fleecing the public directly themselves, road pricing takes effect from 1 June this year.

Isn't it amazing that they've sat on introducing clamping legislation for years while the cowboys get away with menacing the public, yet if it's direct revenue collection they're as quick as whippets. Anyway.

From this June, motorists will have to nominate a road, have it priced, purchase it and then spend a fortune filling in all the potholes thus maintaining it themselves.

Unfortunately, this will more than likely lead to an initial rush for smaller roads, avenues and streets, leaving those unable to nominate their own roads through being away on business, or on holiday, having vast swathes of motorway or A-Roads allocated to them on their behalf to maintain.

According to the new Minister for Stealth Taxes, Wilma Leggrowbach, this initiative takes both road congestion and litter prevention measures to a new level.

"We want to see the public take a greater pride in their roads, and what better way than to give them ownership of them. We are working on the basis that these dogs won't sh*t in their own backyards."

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
