Pete Bennett, the winner of Big Brother 7, has admitted that his trademark characteristic of Tourette Syndrome was a gimmick he used specifically to win the £100,000 prize.

Bennett, formerly the lead singer with rock band Daddy Fantastic, left the group when the other members of the band could stand his uncontrolled swearing no longer. He has since become a speech therapist.

Channel 4, who broadcast Big Brother, have said that, as far as they were aware, Pete was a sufferer of Tourettes, and that there was no question of the station having duped the public as they have done with so many other game shows and competitions.

Pete was always the favourite to win the show, and scored a hit with viewers due mainly to his famous catchphrase "Wanker!"

His most prized possession is a teddy bear once owned by Robert Smith of punk group The Cure, who is also a bit of a wanker.

Bennett told a patient at his clinic yesterday:

"I was a bit hard up, so I decided to dupe the nation just like the TV companies do. Wanker!"

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
