Showbiz TV Celebrity Basil Brush has been arrested in Padstow, North Cornwall for killing and eating six chickens belonging to prize Poultry Breeder Mrs Nora Pullet.
Opening her Coop this morning, Mrs Pullet who was expecting to find sufficient fresh eggs to feed a family of eight for breakfast, found only one very full and extremely fat fox.
Basil, who was also suitably unimpressed for being disturbed while have a cat nap, just blinked his eyes and went back to sleep.
As Chief Inspector Ronnie Rooster from Cornwall & Devon Police placed the handcuffs on Basil he said that "the Celebrity Fox, who had already paid Mrs Pullets Coop a visit a couple of weeks ago, had took a big risk in returning so quickly, as he had ordered most of the local CID to look for the Villain."
Chief Inspector Rooster went on to say that "Sergeant Chick Curry the local Crime Prevention Officer had only last week advised Mrs Pullet to install five lever Security Locks, a Burglar Alarm and Closed Circuit Television to be used in court as evidence.
As the Chief Inspector clambered into his car, he waved the Video Tape to the National Press and said "I fully intend to have zero tolerance in this Police Force."
It is expected that Sergeant Curry will receive the Chief Constables recommendation for solving crime.
