Earlier today a near riot broke out in the House of Commons. Pandemonium was unleashed when MP for Paddington North, Rory O'Hare, tabled a motion that sought to prevent Freemasons from standing for political office.
O'Hare made the proposal on the grounds that "their Masonic oath of fealty to their "Brotherhood" that must be honoured by them above all other duties or loyalties to state constitute a flagrant and unacceptable conflict of interests. No such cult however traditional or well established operating on these premises should be allowed to have its members stand for political office let alone be admitted to it!"
Backbenchers who had been asleep for months sprang to their feet in protest. One of them brandished a sword while another delivered some sort of a litany of denunciation in Latin. Mr O'Hare was escorted from the premises to howls of abuse and a motion was carried to ban him from the House in perpetuity.
