Despite a disastrous World Cup 2010 campaign and an even worse league season with recently relegated West Ham, Robert "Oops" Green has been recalled to the England squad for the Euro qualifier against Switzerland.
Swiss boss Ottmar Hitzfeld has accused England boss Fabio Capello of showing "a complete lack of respect" towards his team after the shock decision was announced and has reported Capello to FIFA's Ethics Committee.
Hitzfeld explained to the world's press the reasons for his actions :
"I know that Switzerland has long been regarded as one of the minnows in international football but Capello's goalkeeping selection is really the final insult.
It was bad enough initially selecting Fulham's reserve keeper David Stockdale as Joe Hart's back up, but bringing in Oops because Stockdale is getting married the day before the game is the straw that finally broke this particular camel's back.
I wouldn't even have contemplated choosing Green if we'd been playing Scotland.....well maybe that's going a bit too far".
Unconfirmed reports suggest that before finally making the decision to draft Green back into the squad, Capello enquired if Spurs keeper Heurelho Gomez had any kind of English ancestry.
