Birmingham City 'keeper Ben Foster has declared himself unavailable indefinitely for international duty to further his club career.
The 28 year old has been Joe Hart's England understudy for the last 2 years but has decided that being associated with calamity keepers such as west Ham's Robert Green and Bristol City's David James will do his future no good at all.
"Don't get me wrong, both Rob and David are great guys, but they're nightmares between the sticks and if I want to get a better club than Birmingham City, then I can't afford to be linked with an international squad that would ever consider either of them good enough to be considered".
Foster reckons that staying away from the international scene (and disasters like World Cup 2010) for 24 months or so should be long enough for the stigma of failure to be exorcised from him.
