Court of dreams!!

The Icelandic basketball team were today successful in defeating Japan at the Championships by 97 baskets to 33. Helped by a capacity crowd, many of whom travelled long distances to see them play, the Icelanders achieved an early 15 point margin and cruised effortlessly to victory over their hapless opponents.

Team captain Serg Biyirwe attacked the Japanese defence, effectively scoring 25 baskets. Ace defender Vani Letyvirik, who received some helpful tips in an email from Hollywood great George Clooney, proved too strong for the diminutive Japan side, whose tallest player stands 5'3". Referee, Bryan Mayweather, a distant relation of famous cricketer Ian Botham, at one stage penalised the Icelanders for "bullying" their reluctant opposition. The closest Japan came to narrowing the margin was when Nagamichi Kaosake planted a basket to make the scores stand 29 to Iceland's 74.

Tha game was not without incident. At the 17 minute mark, Iceland's Herdi Volimik shoved a sly elbow in the face of Tayimi Huwasaki, the Japanese attacker. He was given ten minutes in the "bin", only to counter that he saw the same thing in a Chris Rock movie.

The Icelanders were relieved to make it through to the next round and following the game, were humbled to receive a text message from one of their adoring crowd, golfer Tiger Woods .
