A master performance was required from both of them and the soccer world is now a better, cleaner place, in fact they have both been recommended as ambassadors for the sport by that other super-clean "Icon" Maradona, an honour indeed.
After John's well publicised 'ratting' on his team mate whilst 'romping' up his girlfriend and Ashley's controversial, 'dirty washing' break up of his marriage to Cheryl they certainly deserve the accolades of this superb human "double" achievement.
Chelsea fans don't give a shit and are wallowing in the achievements of their over-payed super-stars, why not?
As for their main rivals for this historic honour, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand here their thoughts on the historic "double":
