Woking Crown Court heard today that Edward Terry admitted being the father of a footballer. Terry, 56, admitted supplying the world with a center half and is expected to be found guilty. He faces a maximum sentence of seven years as a season ticket holder at Doncaster Rovers.
John Terry was not present in court to hear his father being charged. He had a sore foot and a note from his mum excusing him was read out to the court.
Charles Sly-Bugger, representing Terry said that his client deserved some leniency. "He has had the best years of his life blighted by having to ask the neighbours for his son's ball back. We should not make him suffer any further."
However, the prosecution was quick to make their case. Julie Lefty-Rich said that Mr Terry should have used more caution. "One carless night and we end up with a footballer. Edward Terry knowingly supplied the sperm which led to John Terry's arrival. His own love of football was then transmitted to his son."
The case continues.
