The pitch was in good condition

The Europa League semi final first leg between Hamburg and Fulham is to take place in a car park at the back of Jurgen's Beer and Sauerkraut Emporium, Hamburg. Originally the match was scheduled to take place in Hamburg's modern stadium. However, Fulham were unable to risk flying, due to the Icelandic volcano.

Instead Fulham travelled by coach. Heavy traffic jams caused delays and forced the team to train by the side of the autobahn. It was then that manager Roy Hodgson had a brain wave. "I saw how well the lads played on concrete. Even Paul Konchesky looked good. I thought 'Hey, lets play the match in a car park'"

Immediately chairman Mohammad Al Fayed was contacted an an envelope full of cash was delivered to Michelle Platini. The necessary arrangements were made and Fulham will line up for a five-a-side match with fly goalie rules also being allowed.

Jimmy Hill, Fulham legend and big of chin, said "It brings back memories of after school fun. Grazed knee, go and see matron. Splendid!"

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
