Stockholm, Friday. Sven Ericsonn, a multi-sport talented individual, has set a Guineas Book of Record mark for jumping from a open top bus to a Volvo convertible sportscar.
Both vehicles were stationery at the time and were only half a metre apart from each other, being parked parallel. According to Guineas officials, this is the first occasion that such a leap has been done involving a Volvo sportscar.
Ericsonn has been setting records for ten years now and first set a mark when he climbed a 10 metre street light and waved the national flag from its apex.
The build up to this event in Sweden, Sven's country of birth, has been palpable and Police believe 40 000 people rolled up to the event, which was held just outside Stockholm. When Ericsonn completed the jump, a huge roar went up from the excited audience.
Despite the fact that there is no inherit difficulty in the act of leaping from one stationery vehicle to another, Sven was nonetheless proud of his achivement. "I have trained for this moment for 25 years" he said.
Ericsonn's next challenge is expected to be carrying two empty cardboard boxes a total distance of 83.5 metres, a mighty task by Sven's lofty standards. We all wait with abated breath.
