The Football Association has acted swiftly and decisively to quell a brewing riot over a challenge made by Chelsea star Jose Bosingwa in Sunday's Premiership battle at Anfield.
Bosingwa nade the challenge on Liverpool's Yossi Benayoun which would have seen the Chelsea man arrested had he executed it in the town centre on a Saturday night out, but the FA say there was nothing wrong with it, and have given it the thumbs-up.
Bosingwa raised his studs and stamped them into the middle of Benayoun's back, a move normally only seen when coppers kick your door down, but the FA have said that they would like to see more of this type of enthusiastic approach in the future.
An FA spokesman said:
"Whilst the challenge might have ended Benayoun's career, it showed tremendous commitment and determination on the Chelsea player's part, and we all hate it, don't we, when a player tries to shield the ball at the corner flag with a couple of minutes to go?"
