NEW YORK CITY - The New York Yankees did not make the playoffs for the first time in 15 years.
Yankee's owner George Steinbrenner, whose team will be moving into the new $1.6 billion Yankee Stadium in 2009 was asked about the fact that his 'boys in pinstripes' failed to make the American League playoffs and he replied, "Yes, it is definitely one damn heck of a cottin pickin' shame."
"Suffice to say that I am not a happy camper by any stretch of the imagination." Steinbrenner went on to say, "And I was really counting on the popcorn, peanuts, crackerjacks, hot dogs, and the 'get your ice cold beer here' concession sales."
King GS as he is referred to by some of his players and coaches is reportedly so upset that he is actually looking into the possibility of selling the team to a group of forest owners in Yakima, Washington. Steinbrenner confided to one of his assistants that the name Yakima Yankees does have a nice alliteration ring to it.
In other news, Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden has been very busy preparing for his debate with 'Saracuda' Palin. One of his assistant aides said that Joe has been brushing up on literary things such as hyperbole, anachronisms, colloquialisms, malapropisms, euphemisms, oxymorons, onomatopoeia, soliloguys, and carbohydrates.
