Manchester City new signing Robinho was paraded in front of the world's media at a news conference at Eastlands this morning, but all was not well with the dimunitive Brazilian striker, and it appears an embarrassing mistake may have been made.
Asked to pose for photos wearing a sky blue City shirt, Robinho looked nervously at Mark Hughes and stuttered:
"Issa new away strip, yes?"
As the realisation hit home that he had signed for the wrong club, Robinho, who had never been to Manchester until this morning, started to well-up. A steady flow of tears was evident as he made his way out of the news conference, and to the safety of his agent's caring hug.
Although a cataclysmic error, the player can console himself with the fact that, come January, he will be able to move on to the club of his choice, which must surely must be the team from across the city, Manchester United.
Robinho's representative, Vagner Ribeiro, said later:
"Robinho has made a silly mistake. He has got his Manchesters mixed-up."
