NEW YORK CITY – The NFL has really been beating the bushes trying to find ways to improve the game, in order to draw back the fans once they get the green light to kick the season off (no pun intended).
The NFL Committee on Rules has recommended that one way to improve the game is to simply do away with the traditional coin toss at the start of each game.
The committee stated that referees have been tossing coins since 1892, back when the players played wearing leather helmets, sandals, and ashtrays as protective crotch cups.
So the NFL has decided to do away with the old-fashioned coin toss and replace it with the rock, paper, scissors hand game concept.
And now, Instead of the referee tossing the coin, he will now simply say “Ready, 1, 2, 3, go”, and, at that point, the designated team captains will simultaneously form the rock, paper, scissors hand signs.
Twenty-year veteran, Tom Brady, of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was asked for his opinion. He said, “Hey, my sultry wife, Gisele and I both love the new idea."
