Manchester United and England central defender, Harry Maguire, has revealed the pressure he is under to perform at the highest level, and that petty jealousies - particularly about his salary - have aroused anger in other players, and made him a marked man.
Maguire, 26, said:
"Every time I go up for a corner, or a free-kick, there's people following me all over the place. I'm a marked man wherever I go."
But it's not just corners, says Maguire:
"Any kind of set piece, at all. They're all over me, like a rash. Bloody annoying, it is."
The former Sheffield United, Hull City and Leicester City star says the situation has become almost unbearable:
"Talk about tight marking," he said, "I went out to empty the bins on Monday night, and two opposition defenders were waiting outside me back door to go with me! It's absolutely ridiculous!"
