Manchester City last night insisted that their title tilt is over, at least for this season. Manager, Roberto "Boom Boom" Mancini, former world champion boxer, composer, scarf wearer, and fashion model told the press.
"Is finished," he said.
But he was smirking at the time.
Which may or may not be relevant, depending on how it's viewed.
But it does seem like a strange statement to make, considering that City are only two points behind Salford Celtic with a derby game to come on the 30th of April at the Shitihead, and that they walloped Norwich City 6-1.
City put in a shift which suggested that it's far from being over with a scintillating 6-1 win away, with a hat trick from Tevez, a brace from Aguero, and one from Boris Johnson, the Mayor Of Macclesfield.
Salford Celtic supporters aren't exactly quaking in their boots just yet, but probably will be before the season ends.
"They're playing mind games with us," Salford fan Jodie Knacker complained. "We're not used to that. If you ask me, it's underhanded tactics. I mean, mind games...whatever next?"
City fans are hoping that Salford Celtic will slip up against Aston Village, although they aren't counting on it.
"The City is ours!" crowed Bertie MaGoo, the bitter nosed blue.
"Two words," proclaimed veteran Donald Skoob. "Chickens. Count. Chicken counting Moss Side Mother..."
