United States Premier Barack Obama overturned the ban by former President George W. Bush and approved the use of stem cell research. In a statement that reminded all in the audience of "Dubya," however, Obama showed his ignorance of the science involved.
Obama was accidentally without a teleprompter (generally a disaster) and had to speak "off the cuff."
"I understand that the use of stem cells can help in curing cancers and other genetic diseases and I am all for this kind of scientific research. I don't know why President Bush opposed the use of stems and twigs and other pieces of plants and trees to try to help people."
When it was pointed out to him by press in attendance that the stem cells in question came from aborted fetuses, Obama quickly changed his position and said "A woman who has a right to her own body has a right to decide what to do with the fetus that she kills."
