The evolution of gents razor blades, over the last fifty years, has seen many developments usually taking the form of an ever- increasing number of blades on standard disposable razors. That was true until, newly formed company, Uniblade stormed the market with their retro- styled single blade device.
Uniblade's main competitors and current disposable razor market- leader Myriadblade has, only last week, launched their MAC20 product. This tool comes complete with a twenty-seven- bladed head that claims to: Shave Your Whole Head With A Singe Stroke! Indeed, to most of us it seems impossible to find, in any shop, a razor that doesn't wield at least five blades and even those are now being dubbed as 'old hat'.
"We have come to the conclusion that the romance has been taken out of shaving by these multi- bladed instruments" whined Uniblade marketing representative Mustafa Trim "I know the single head system has never been trialled before but we think it will catch on; we're very excited".
Myths about single- headed razors being used during the Second World War were perpetrated by back- in- my- day- grandfathers but no- one, until now, thought that it was even possible to create such an appliance.
