A man interested in science has set out to solve the ages-old scientific mystery of which came first - the chicken or the egg.
Brian Juggins was under the impression that, as chickens emerge from eggs, it would have been impossible for one of the birds to have come into existence without one.
His quandary, however, then arose when he started to consider the implication that, if the egg came first, something must have laid it.
He was back to Square One.
He did his research, thought a long time, consulted other sources, such as the internet and teachers at a school near his home, and even went down to the local supermarket to get 'hands-on'. Still, he was no nearer the answer.
And then, he hit upon an ingenious plan to solve the riddle, once-and-for-all.
On Monday, with the aid of an assistant acting simultaneously, the dimwit placed two orders on internet shopping site, Amazon - one for a chicken, and the other for an egg.
"We should know in a couple of days," said Juggins.
