AMSTERDAM, Holland - The government of Holland has just issued a statement regarding its proposed space program.
The country has stated that they are abandoning their plans effective immediately.
A government spokesperson stated that after consulting with three different consulting firms it was determined that the price tag would be much too high.
The spokesperson informed the news reporters that Holland just felt that in order to operate a first class space program like the one in America it would require a stupendous amount of money.
Holland is not a very wealthy country. An inside source who spoke on grounds of anonymity stated that Holland's National Treasury only has about $2.7 million [U.S.] at the present time.
So as a result it has decided to scrap the plans to join the space race and concentrate on providing enough food, medicine, and Dutch chocolate to all its citizens.
