A newly published study in medical journal The Lancelot reveals that Italian males are 60% more likely to suffer from gesticular cancer than any other national group. The condition was also found to be more prevalent in regions with Italian immigration, for example New Jersey, with the lowest instance of the condition found in Japan.
The study also identified a number of at-risk professions where instances of gesticular cancer are particularly high; these include mimes, traffic cops, and cricket umpires.
The condition's historic association with seafarers was not substantiated by the study - the authors suggest the decline of semaphore as a possible explanation.
