In a week when it was feared that The Local News would have to close its doors for the last time, the situation was dramatically saved when local man Kevin Smally casually mentioned in passing that he had spotted the 12.32 from Rochester yesterday and that it was 3 minutes late!
"I had been looking out of my window at the railway line when I saw the train pass" said the dynamic senior citizen. "I always make a cup of tea at the same time each day and the train invariably passes when the cup is half empty, but this time I had not only drunk all of my tea, but was on my second chocolate biscuit. I checked the clock and it was definitely ...blah, blah, blah,....I normally wave to the driver, but they very rarely wave back, but 40 years in the civil service taught me that....Blah, blah, blah, blah.....It was a Cammel 2473 type C and I noticed that the window frames were not of the current specification so I....Drone drone blahdee, blahdee, blah........ The wife used to joke that I would be buried under a train. Before she left me that is. Anyway, many people think that the type D was a far superior unit to the type C but they forget that the construction methods used at Crewe........Blahdee, blahdee, blah blah........and that's how I got the evidence that Camilla takes it up the arse".
