Chasing One's Own Tail

Although millions of people do not play baseball or engage in politics, they do enjoy watching these two exciting games.

In baseball, there are two major leagues, the American League and the National League. In politics, two major parties, 4Zeros and 0000.

Parties are run by a mastermind who handpicks the chessmen, or rather the clowns for either party. The mastermind needs certain assurances before admitting any clown as candidate actor.

Having ascertained their loyalties, the frugal sponsor launches a campaign to call in interested parties who are ready to foot the costs of the game. Sometimes, just for fun, it is good to have a tie, in which case, the referees have to throw a dice.

The process of casting the dice, i.e. throwing, projecting, landing, turning, twisting and standing still, is worth millions of ordinary lives to board of directors. When the climax is reached, the baseball players receive their multi-million dollar bonuses, the Mayors or Presidents, their pass to their mansions and, of course, the spectators, permission to go home.

No big deal: the spectators can hardly survive without seasonal excitements. After all, spectators can walk tall when their league or party has won! Since no one expects a player to share the money earned, likewise, no one expects a president to lend his Monica to someone who simply cast a vote in the ballot box.

From that point on, life becomes monotonous and it is up to the mastermind to decide how to keep the public busy. Ain't this something, to be chasing one's own tail in the lonely backyard?

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
