Thousands of Jews have taken to the streets across Israel, with some threatening to attack US bases over Lady Gaga's bikini made of cold cuts.
A crowd, estimated at 10,000 by a government official, poured out of temples into the streets of Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, after Friday prayers and coinciding with Rosh Hashanah.
Reuters news agency reported that one man was shot dead when the crowd of protesters attacked a nearby Deli, hurling sausages and cheese at the Israeli forces posted there.
Israeli security forces rushed to the scene to restore order, with three police being injured in the clash, officials said.
The Jerusalem Post's Aaron Weinstein, reporting from Jerusalem, said more demonstrations are being planned throughout the country.
In the United States, too, protesters marched in the cities of New York and Los Angeles over the non-kosher Lady Gaga meat bikini.
