Gee Cee Cleverlie has cleverly kept the secret behind his hand made shoes. He makes custom shoes for the rich and famous and each pair is a 'one off' - sorry - "two off".
It was long thought that he was the only bespoke maker of hand made shoes. However, rival shoe companies have been keeping an eye on him for a couple of months and have come up with proof that he is, indeed, a con artist.
Rival shoe companies sent in a buyer who was 'wired' and wearing a tiny video camera in his lapel hidden inside a carnation, on a guided tour of Cleverlie's factory.
The buyer managed to get away from his 'tour guide' when pretending to vist the Gents. He managed to actually get into the workshop where the shoes are hand-made.
It appears that Cleverlie used child labout. German speaking Mennonite children from Mexico were squatting in a dim room making shoes (admittedly hand-making them) from used tires and the leather from used horse saddles.
Children as young as 5 were amongst those working in the 'shop'. Tiny fingers cut and stitched 16 hours a day. Their pay? A mere 5 cents per hour.
Cleverlie is now being investigated and it is believed he will soon be charged with many crimes.
The children are being returned to their parents in Mexico and Canada as soon as possible. These parents were under the impression that their children were attending school for free. They were visibly shaken when they heard the truth.
