Terry de Heavyland has been honoured for his lifetime achievement of designing the most dangerous shoes in the world.
Heavyland lives up to his name on catwalks and sidewalks around the world as women and men continue to fall off their beloved platform shoes and 'land heavy' on their butts.
Terry pioneered this design of shoe way back in the 70's and has, it is reported, been able to shake off hundreds of law suits pursued by families of injured, or dead relatives who were injured or died as a result of 'falls' when wearing 'his' shoes.
Many people have, over the years, twisted ankles, fallen in the path of moving vehicles, some with fatal results.
Platform shoes made a comeback during the past decade as a result of a new generation of 'followers of fashion'.
Known today as 'Pole Dancers' Shoes', it is known around the fashion 'circuit' that ONLY Pole Dancers have worn them successfully as a result of having the pole to hang on to.
Terry is laughing all the way to the bank and admits he has never worn a pair of platform shoes in his life, for obvious reasons, "they're bloody dangerous and pose a health hazard. Do I LOOK stupid?"
