Mr Boothroyd's Crap TV Which Makes Belle de Jour Look 'A Bit Spotty'

Harrogate man Eddie Boothroyd was looking forward to watching 'This Week' last night on BBC1 because Belle de Jour was appearing on the show. Mr Boothroyd, a long time admirer of the 'Belle de Jour' blog - which describes the day to day life of a high class call girl - was looking forward to actually seeing Belle de Jour, and hearing what she had to say about sex education in schools.

"It were a bit of a let down really," Mr Boothroyd told us. "From the blog, I was expecting her to be a right cracking piece, but she weren't all that. Certainly not worth four hundred quid an hour in my book. In fact, when the camera went into close-up, she looked like she had a bit of a spotty face. You could see it under the make-up like. I were right disappointed, me."

Belle de Jour, who has since identified herself as Research Scientist Dr Brooke Magnanti, and revealed that she turned to "escort work" when she was short of money as a student was unavailable to respond to Mr Boothroyd's comments.

We did however manage to speak to a certain Mr Clarence Whitehouse, founder of a Belle de Jour fan site on the internet, and he told us:

"This Boothroyd bloke is talking out of his arse. There is no way that Belle de Jour is 'a bit spotty.' That's just ridiculous. There must be something wrong with his eyes. Either that or he's got a really crap telly."

We tried to relay this riposte to Mr Boothroyd, but it appears he'd gone to bed when we called.

More as we get it.
