Supporters of Scottish singing sensation and global phenomenon Susan Boyle held a press conference today at Blackpool's Winter Gardens to expressly deny that SuBo fans were little more than a badly behaved rabble who are gaining a global reputation for behaving badly.
Mrs Bernice McNauseum, representing a number of SuBo fan clubs from all points of the globe told the conference that reports of inappropriate behaviour by SuBo fan club members from all over the world had been greatly exaggerated, and that SuBo fans; only crime was knowing how to let their hair down, jerk their knees up, and have a good time whilst sporting dubious clothing and hairstyles.
After throwing questions to the floor, Mrs McNauseum appeared to struggle to justify SuBo fans bringing Fifth Avenue in New York to a standstill, closing down Sydney Harbour Bridge, bringing gridlock to central London, groping Gladiators at Rome's historic Colosseum, and smashing windows on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow.
Mrs McNauseum assured assembled reporters that any incidents were mere aberrations facilitated by a minority hell bent on trouble, and that the vast majority of SuBo fan club members were law abiding citizens.
She made a special point of appealing to satirical website theSpoof.com to desist from running blatantly untrue accounts of rampaging SuBo fans. The response to this appeal was muffled.
More as we get it.
