Hollywood, California - Staying true to form, Simon Cowell inadvertently blurted out what he really thinks of Paula Abdul's contribution to the "American Idol" show when his microphone was left on picking up on a conversation between him and an associate producer who walked up to him during a replacement interview informing him that none of the Paula Abdul replacement candidates fit into her old wardrobe.
"Wow! I never realized how invaluable Paula was to the show," said Simon Cowell in his customary sarcastic manner. "Not until this very moment...My God, isn't there a Bird [woman] out there that will fit into Paula Abdul's old dresses!"
However, the Simon Cowell publicity machine quickly went into overdrive damage control claiming that his statement was taken out of context, releasing the following statement signed by Simon Cowell:
"Paula Abdul is sorely missed," read Simon Cowell's prepared statement released to the media. "Especially her shoe size. No, no just joking the old Bird is a hard act to follow."
