Apprentice finalist Kate Walsh has won a job co-hosting a topical news magazine programme after agreeing to present while dressed as the number five. The new show, on Five, will feature Kate alongside Ian Wright and Mellinda Messinger and will be based on the day's news stories. Details of the number five costume have not been released, but it expected to consist of a giant five with just Kate's arms, legs and head showing.
Although the other presenters on the show were not contracted to wear number five costumes, Ian Wright has suggested he would be happy to wear one. "It would be a bit of a giggle," he said, "And five is one of my lucky numbers." Melinda Messenger has also agreed in principle to the idea of wearing a tee-shirt with a five on it.
The programme will be broadcast from Five's Studio Five which is built in the shape of a number five. Five's controller, Richard Woolfe said that other broadcasters' early evening slots were 'totally predictable' and the new show would put Five on the map.
Meanwhile, Kate has suggested that she would not always want to present while wearing a letter or number costume. "There's a danger of getting typecast," she said.
