In shock news from Arkansas today, a couple of newly-weds demanded that they should have their marriage annulled with immediate effect after discovering they were NOT related.
Not wishing to break centuries of tradition of 'keeping it in the family', the couple were said to be distraught and believed that their parents, although having the same names Billy-Bob and Susie-May, were not in fact married to each other; (Billie-Bob had married a Susie-May and Susie May had married another Billy-Bob, but both were murdered by a jealous brother in their woodland shack). They had left behind a little girl who was taken in by their cousins.
The hapless couple believed that Billy-Bob had 'arranged' their marriage in secret.
The secret was revealed after the wedding, when the bride's brother turned up at the reception. However, the groom's brother had been dead for five years when he was tragically killed when an alligator bit his arm off when his boat capsized in a swamp and he bled to death.
The sobbing bride, a 14 year-old who did not want to be named told In Seine News;
"Words cannot describe how I feel about this. I have known "Jeb" all my life. We grew up together; we lived in the same house; we went fishin' together; had baths together and all that! We even slept in the same bedroom. Why we were so close we thought we was twins and getting wed just seemed the right thing to do. It would have made what we thought was our maw & paw so proud! We would not be polluting the gene pool!"
Jeb, also 14 was not available for comment as he had gone fishin'.
A similar occurrence is believed to have happened in the UK, except the couple asked for annulment because they were brother and sister.
A spokesperson for genesreunited.com said;
"If their names were disclosed it would upset the complicated record system we hold for southern North America and could lead to 'honour killings' and so we shall have to treat this occurence with our utmost discretion."
