In a sensational confession by Tony Benn, it has emerged that all 2 billion entries in his diaries are fakes.
Benn (I remember Clement once remarking to me etc, etc etc) today admitted that he made them all up. He never was at any of those meetings or in the government or ever been a politician!!!
This has been a closely guarded secret by the political establishment and nobody has ever blown the whistle on him for fear of being beaten up.
Benn reveals that he is capo de capo of UK gangsters and has had government after government in his pocket all this while. He said, "I tipped off the Yanks about Suez, you know. Eden never tried any more funny stuff with me after that."
He has only revealed this sensational news now because, "I have decided that it is time to retire from blackmail and extortion and take up an honest profession".
He is seeking a parliamentary seat and does not expect to not be elected.
