Months after their fifteen minutes of fame ended, Sanjaya and Shyamali Malakar are back in the news. Shyamali has agreed to pose nude in Playboy magazine, while brother Sanjaya has agreed to do her hair for the shoot.
Both rocketed to fame due to their time on American Idol and the celebrity status it gave them. While she was an early casualty of the show, naked pictures of the Hooter's waitress put her back in the limelight. His weird hair styles overrode his poor singing and kept him on the show longer than most people (except twelve year old girls who know how to "redial") wanted.
Now, Shyamali will be the latest Miss January. From her Seattle, Washington area home, she said, "I'm thankful for this opportunity to continue my modeling career and show people what I've really got. This is a chance for me to strut my stuff in front of a large audience and let it all hang out."
"My brother has always been supportive of me, and he'll help me with my hair and make up on this one. I really don't think he's doing this to check out the other girls, because he's really not that kind of guy."
"I volunteered to be the girl in one of the colder months, because I really wanted everything to stand out. It'll be hard being outside in the snow, but they'll eventually warm up and go back to normal."
