Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom has revealed he is planning to get back to basics by romping naked on stage with Nurse Gladys of "Open all Hours" fame.
The 30-year-old actor today confirmed he was going to star in a nude revival of "In Celebration" by British playwright David Storey, in which 3 family members return to their roots, due to open in July.
"I wanted a completely different experience," Bloom said, " I have had a massive problem with my ego in the last few years and well, it's just huge. It gets in the way of everything. I considered an amputation, a reduction maybe, but then Dom (Dominic Moynahan who co-starred in Lords of the Rings) said I should try a bit of naked romping with an aged British actress, Hettie Wainthrop really pointed him in the right direction."
Bloom added that he had grown sick of attractive women, Caribbean locations, massive pay-outs and lucrative contracts, "When the opportunity to romp with Nurse Gladys came up, I waived the fee and jumped at the chance with both hands."
The play opens at the Duke of York's Theatre 12 July 2007.
