Huntsville, Texas - Foghorn Leghorn, former Warner Brothers cartoon character, was executed Monday at midnight in Texas State Penitentiary's death chamber.
Leghorn re-entered the public eye in 2003 as a poker dealer at Yosemite Sam's casino in the critically-acclaimed 'Looney Tunes: Back in Action'. Most people remember his affable side, but this marked the beginning of the end for the anthropomorphic rooster.
In 2004, following a week-long bender at the Chicken Ranch, a botched bank heist with his old college pal Rhode Island Red led to the deaths of two innocent bystanders: widow Miss Prissy and her son, Egghead Jr.
Mr. Red was also killed in the ensuing shootout with police.
During his time on death row, Leghorn found God and reconciled with former rival Barnyard Dawg. He also eventually came to share a neighboring cell with another old nemesis, the cannibalistic Henery Hawk.
Eyewitnesses at the execution said that Leghorn's final words were: "Well, paint me green and call me a pickle!"
Two nails on a stump were used by the executioner to position his neck. Afterward, Leghorn's body was described to have flapped and flailed around the room for a solid minute.
