DreamWorks have announced a breakthrough deal that will see the first live action adaptation of the Shrek franchise.
In this new instalment, DreamWorks will save millions by dropping CGI animation, and instead will opt for live action. The deal was reached in the United Kingdom, where the top cast members will come from.
The lead character Shrek will be played by non-other than look-alike Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, the role of Princess Fiona will be played by dead ringer Jade Goody (former housemate of UK Big Brother 3).
Commenting on this development, casting director for DreamWorks Leslee Feldman was pleased with the two British leads. "The resemblance between Wayne Rooney and Shrek is uncanny, and the resemblance between Jade Goody and Princess Fiona in her full ogre glory is equally impressive, I am sure the audience will have difficulties to differentiate between the main CGI characters and the live replacements", said Leslee.
The part of donkey will be played by Sarah Jessica Parker of Sex and the City fame. The movie is currently in production.
