The ghost of Hollywood tough guy Jimmy Cagney has been wreaking havoc in the ancient Cotswold village of Much Bluffenham.
Cottage dweller, Cuthbert Blizzard, thinks his cottage is haunted by the one-time movie star and hoodlum. He told The Spoof:
"Every night at about 1.30am Cagney's 'boat' appears on my kitchen ceiling and in a ghostly voice the pint-sized racketeer calls out: Finally made it Ma! Top of the World!"
This is accompanied by a hail of bullets and manic laughing. The diminutive star of The Public Enemy then launches into a chorus of "I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy" which he follows with a quick tap routine and then he's off again into the ether.
Mr Blizzard is at his wit's end and things have become so bad that he's thinking of holding a séance to summon up the ghost of Spencer Tracy and to get him to reprise one of his Oscar-winning roles as a priest, and then to exorcise the spooky spectre for once and for all.
